Summary: This position will be an integral resource within the Accounting Team of Chambers & Chambers Wine Merchants. The position will report to the Accounting Manager and is primarily responsible for performing monthly close process, maintaining General Ledger accounts, completing all assigned account reconciliations, creating and/or updating standard operating procedures for all tasks performed, ad hoc analyses and projects assigned from the Accounting Manager and CFO, assisting in the development and maintenance of our reporting and forecasting software (Adaptive), as well as assisting with Financial Reporting and providing back-up and cover to all areas within the accounting team. The successful candidate will need to meet the requirements of qualification or have prior experience in the wine industry.Responsibilities: ALL Main contributor to the monthly close and reporting process responsible for all close activities and reconciliations except for payroll. Assist with special projects to improve operating efficiency of department Prepare monthly sales rep commission statements Assist with monthly management reporting on Financial Statements, as needed, providing schedules, etc. Perform variance analysis to budget and prior periods to ensure transactions are captured appropriately Prepare monthly operating expense reports for distribution to department heads including employee expense reporting Prepare accounting schedules and respond to inquiries to assist with annual audits and reviews performed by external auditors Cross train in other finance and operations roles to act as coverage when needed Prepare all tax and compliance reporting Assist in maintaining reporting and forecasting software (Adaptive) Ad hoc projects and analysis assigned by CFO and/or Accounting Manager Generate and maintain standard operating procedures for tasks performed Generate and maintain supplier bank statements Work with other departments to ensure data integrity in our systemsRequirements/Qualifications: BA / BS in Accounting or Finance required General understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) 3+ years of experience in general accounting required Intermediate to advanced Excel Skills Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to multitask and respond quickly and accurately to demanding situations with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities Strong work ethic and positive attitude Attention to detail and accuracy, with a high level of integrity Effective communication skills in English, verbal and written, with employees and external parties at all levels Strong team orientation and passion for working with cross functional departments Passion and curiosity for continuous process improvement Experience with reporting and forecasting software a plus Public accounting experience a plus Prior experience with Apprise ERP a plus, but not required Inventory accounting/management experience a plusChambers & Chambers offers a competitive hourly wage/salary and comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401K with company matching, paid vacation and holidays.
