Our counseling, crisis prevention, youth housing, and early childhood services help approximately 40,000 individuals each year. The Grant Writer is a key member of the dynamic Development team and works closely with StarVista's administrative and program staff teams to achieve grant management and revenue goals.POSITION PURPOSE & OBJECTIVES:The Grant Writer is a full-time position that reports directly to the Grants Manager. This position will support the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive grants program, including public and private funders. The grant writer is responsible for grant writing and reporting, prospecting, researching, stewardship, and other grant-related tasks.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Grant WritingExplore and conduct prospect research to identify potential funding sources from foundations, government, and corporations based on organization prioritiesWrite clear, compelling, and effective grant requests and proposalsResearch and collect data to support grant proposals and reportsCollaborate with StarVista staff to ensure grant applications accurately reflect program activities and to prepare timely reports that track deliverables and outcomesEnsure grant assignments are submitted on time via mail, email, online portal, and/or in hard copy to funders in person as requestedMaintain complete records of past and current proposals Relationship BuildingDevelop and foster relationships with public and private grant-making staffCommunicate with current and prospective funding organizations regarding new RFPs, status of grant applications, and other items as appropriate Collaborate with Grants Coordinator and Grants Manager to ensure timely distribution of grant stewardship touchpoints (e.g., cards, award recognition)Build/maintain relationships with StarVista staff (e.g., Marketing) through ongoing collaboration AdministrativeAttend regular Development team and Grants team meetingsOther duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Excellent writing and editing skills with exceptional attention to detailAdept, proactive communication skills (email, phone, Microsoft Teams, in-person)Ability to prioritize, organize, manage multiple tasks to meet specific deadlines, and readjust priorities as changes happenStrong organizational and time management skillsDemonstrated cultural sensitivity and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusionFlexible, resourceful, creative problem-solverProven initiative and ability to work independently under minimal supervision and in a team environmentProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.), Adobe Acrobat, and utilizing internet resources to researchAbility to follow a consistent scheduleAbility to pass fingerprint and TB clearance requiredEXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:BA or BS degree and/or 2 years of grant writing, nonprofit, or equivalent experience preferredPM21PI186810623
