Peninsula Community Center, a ministry of Peninsula Covenant Church
(PCC), builds community by providing personal, healthy, and
meaningful connections through aquatics, fitness, tennis, and
community programming. PCC is a vibrant and forward-thinking church
located in Redwood City, dedicated to serving our community and
making a positive impact through our outreach programs including
our Community Center. PCC employs over 150 seasonal and part-time
staff to support various community efforts. Our team thrives on

passion for helping others and working together. PRINCIPAL
OBJECTIVE The Parent-Tot Swim Instructor provides instruction for
both young children and parents through classes that build
foundational, water safety skills and comfort in an aquatic
environment. This role is responsible for providing swim
instruction while creating a welcoming and supportive environment
and experience for all. PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS The
Parent-Tot Swim Instructor reports directly to the Aquatics
Director and collaborates closely with the Aquatics Coordinator and
fellow swim instructors. They engage with parents, guardians, and
students to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
Strong communication and teamwork with all Aquatics and Center
staff are essential to ensuring a high-quality swim program.
WORKWEEK Hours and shifts vary; weekly hours range: 30 minutes - 2
hours. SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead a safe, effective, and
engaging parent-child swim class focused on water safety and basic
skills. Be able to adapt teaching techniques based on varying
skills and comfort of participants. Be punctual and reliable; if a
sub is needed, take full responsibility for arranging coverage.
Know and be ready to execute the facility Emergency Action Plan
(EAP). Escalate concerns to the Aquatics Coordinator and Aquatics
Director as needed. Collaborate with all Aquatics and Center staff
to enhance the overall experience for members and guests. Other
duties as they pertain to and aid in supporting the ministry's
principal objectives. PROFILE SKILLS & CORE COMPETENCIES Strong
instructional and coaching skills, with the ability to engage young
children and guide parents effectively. Excellent communication,
providing clear, supportive, and encouraging guidance to
participants and guardians. Ability to create a safe, inclusive,
and positive learning environment for all participants. Dependable
and professional, demonstrating punctuality, accountability, and
reliability in all responsibilities. Knowledgeable in water safety,
swim instruction techniques, and emergency response procedures.
Collaborative team player, working effectively with aquatics staff
and center teams to deliver a high-quality swim program.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION Strong swimming skills and experience in swim
coaching, swim instruction, and working with children required.
Maintain current certification in Adult and Pediatric First
Aid/CPR/AED, or obtain certification within 30 days of hire. One
year of experience teaching parent-tot swim classes. Preferred:
Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification. PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS Must be in the water and sun for extended periods.
Must be able to hold children (ages 6 months - 3 years) in the
water, stand in the water, swim 300 yards continuously
(breaststroke or freestyle), and tread water for two minutes
without using arms. Must be able to lift 30 pounds occasionally and
15-20 pounds frequently. DOJ background clearance required. Must
adhere to and model PCCs Safe Church policies. DISCLAIMER This job
