Job Description:
Job Description Job Description About Us: nEye.ai, a well-funded
optical switch startup, is poised to revolutionize the future of
data centers. nEye’s MEMS-based silicon photonics optical circuit
switches (OCS) eliminate critical bottlenecks in AI processing by
enabling direct optical connections among thousands of GPUs and
memory units. The company's SuperSwitch is an ultra-low power
consumption, high radix, compact chip-scale design, offering
hyperscale data centers enhanced performance, efficiency, and
scalability. Job Overview: As a Reliability Testing Engineer at
nEye, you will work closely with the Lead Reliability Engineer to
develop, execute, and analyze reliability test programs that ensure
the long-term performance of our MEMS and silicon photonic devices.
This is a high-growth, technically-focused role designed for
early-career engineers who are passionate about understanding
failure mechanisms, stress testing advanced devices, and building
toward expertise in FIT rate modeling and qualification strategy.
You will contribute directly to reliability testing, data
interpretation, and failure analysis while gaining exposure to the
full lifecycle of reliability qualification in telecom-grade
environments. Key Responsibilities Support the development and
execution of reliability test plans for MEMS, silicon photonic, and
associated electronic components. Perform accelerated life testing
(e.g., temperature, humidity, shock, vibration) to identify
degradation and failure trends. Collaborate with test engineering
to design and optimize reliability test setups, including scripting
or automation support. Collect, analyze, and interpret reliability
data using statistical techniques (e.g., Weibull, lognormal models,
Arrhenius acceleration).Assist with failure mode analysis and
contribute to root cause investigations in partnership with failure
analysis, packaging, and process teams. Document test procedures,
results, and findings in structured reports aligned with
qualification and industry standards. Develop and automate
reliability test setups using Python or LabVIEW, including
instrument control, data acquisition, and repeatable stress-test
execution. Contribute to design-for-reliability (DfR) feedback
loops to improve device robustness and enable qualification
readiness. Gain increasing ownership over reliability programs with
the goal of maturing into a senior reliability leadership track.
Essential Skills Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Materials
Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics,
or a related field. 2 - 7 years of experience in reliability
engineering, device physics, semiconductor test, failure analysis,
or related fields (academic industry combined acceptable).
Foundational understanding of reliability concepts such as failure
mechanisms, acceleration models, and FIT rate concepts. Hands-on
experience with device testing, test instrumentation, or stress
testing environments. Ability to analyze test results using tools
such as Python, MATLAB, JMP, or equivalent. Strong analytical and
problem-solving abilities with a passion for understanding how and
why devices fail. Excellent communication skills and ability to
clearly document technical work. Familiarity with optical or
electrical degradation testing and measurement techniques is
essential. Preferred Skills Experience with MEMS, silicon
photonics, or semiconductor device-level reliability. Exposure to
reliability standards (e.g., JESD22, AEC-Q100, Telcordia, MIL-STD).
Familiarity with failure analysis techniques (SEM, FIB, optical
inspection, X-ray imaging). Experience contributing to FMEA / DFMEA
processes. Knowledge of reliability modeling with activation
energies and stress acceleration. Expected Salary Range and Title:
$125,000-$200,000 annually. Starting salary and title will depend
on, and be commensurate with, relevant experience, skills,
training, education, market demands, and the ultimate job duties
and requirements. nEye is an Equal Opportunity Employer . All
qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment
