Job Description:
IXL Learning, a leading edtech company with products used by 13
million students worldwide, is seeking an experienced full-time
Human Resources Benefits Specialist to grow with us as our 1100+
person company continues to expand. This position is responsible
for implementing the company's global benefit and pension
strategies in coordination with senior HR and company leadership
and with support from IXL's brokers. They will manage the broker
relationships and activities and administer all health and welfare
programs for global employee populations currently US, Canada, UK,
Germany, and China. In addition, this position will lead all leave
and accommodation administration activities including understanding
statutory requirements globally, and relaying those requirements to
employees, managers, and HR partners.This is a full time position
in our San Mateo, CA office with a hybrid work schedule.WHAT YOU'LL
BE DOINGWork with benefit brokers in the US, Canada and UK to
design and implement health and welfare plans that meet IXL's
strategy. Coordinate the US benefit renewal process with senior HR,
company leadership, and benefit brokers annuallyAdminister US
401(k) and other country retirement plans in coordination with plan
administrators in US, UK and Canada. Design and deliver employee
presentations and digital resources that communicate
retirement/pension plans to the employee populationAs the health
and welfare expert, create communication plans and resources that
effectively communicate benefits programs including plan options,
policy features, annual open enrollment, and other requirements
across employee populationsLead the annual US open enrollment
project, in coordination with the broker, HCM team, and HR
partnersEnsure accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HR
system (Workday) and work with vendors to confirm accurate
eligibility and enrollment information is transmittedEnsure
employee benefits records and processes are in compliance with all
required laws, regulations and internal policiesManage workers
compensation program including coordinating claims initiation with
employees and insurer Process and administer all leave-of-absence
requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability
and FMLAInterpret FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to
leaves of absences/disabilitiesAssist employees with more complex
benefit questions, such as claims issuesRespond to 401(k) inquiries
from employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and
contribution amounts Champion wellness programs with support of
other members of the HR teamWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FORBA/BS 5+ years of
global benefits, leave, workers compensation, and retirement plan
administration experience for companies with 750+
employeesDemonstrated success of independently managing health and
welfare plans, life and disability insurance plans, flexible
spending accounts, and retirement plans in North America and
Europe; experience in Asia a plusExpert knowledge of US statutory
requirements in benefits, leaves and accommodations including
COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and IRS rules Working knowledge of Canada, UK,
Germany, and/or Australia statutory requirements for benefits,
leaves, and accommodations.Ability to work with sensitive and
confidential data with a demonstrated practice of maintaining
employee confidentiality, HIPAA and other global data privacy
compliance requirements Ability to manage projects autonomously to
completion, including working through and with junior HR team
membersExperience tracking benefit elections and monthly
reconciliation within HCM; knowledge of Workday HCM is strongly
preferredExperience scaling health and welfare services and teams
to support a fast growing company a plusStrong organizational and
analytical skills; great attention to detailExcellent verbal and
written communication skills with a customer service
focusProficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and
