Raleigh's Research Triangle region will be home to some of the
company's critical shared service teams in North America, including
Information Technology, Global Financial Solutions, HR Operations
and Procurement Services Desk. These functions provide the
necessary support to ensure Gilead's business runs effectively and
efficiently. The center will also be a catalyst for standardization
of processes, digital transformation and technology
optimization.The Director of Data Governance will lead and execute
Data Governance activities at Gilead Sciences for the Enterprise
Data & Analytics team. This position will take ownership of
developing the company's Data Governance program throughout the
organization. In addition, the Director will be responsible for
working with the Enterprise Data Governance Council to provide
leadership and direction for all organization-wide data governance
activities with a focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to
an enterprise data governance framework.This role also oversees the
Enterprise Master Data Management initiative. This role is required
to develop strategic roadmap and operational framework for
Enterprise Master Data Management in alignment with the data
Governance process being implemented.ResponsibilitiesDrive data
governance initiatives and lead the establishment of a Data
Governance ProgramCreate and manage the operational process for
Data governance in collaboration with the Gilead Sciences
Enterprise Data Governance Council leadershipDevelop the enterprise
data governance structure; establish a data governance committee
and define data governance roles, accountability and ownership, and
decision rights; lead realization of data as products.Drive the
implementation of the Gilead's Enterprise Master Data Management
solution.Recommend appropriate Reference Data to adhere to data
standards in the Life sciences industryImplement best practices for
management, manipulation and capture of data.Ensure data usage
rights are granted through a formal process for every use case in
alignment with information security standards, Data privacy and
protection standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, CFR21 Part 11 etcWork in
conjunction with leadership and liaise with multiple business and
support teams across the global enterprise on complex data
governance projects.Partner with Business and IT Stakeholders to
develop Data Governance Roadmap, including enterprise-wide Data
Quality Framework and an Information ModelFacilitate bi-directional
communication of strategies, priorities and issuesDefine and
communicate Data Governance roles and responsibilitiesWorks with
the business units to ensure data ownership and quality, and with
Gilead IT Security on cybersecurity to ensure data securityDrive
organizational behavior change as it relates to the use of data;
realizing vision of data managed as an assetDefine Data Governance
roles, accountability, and ownership and decision
rights.Collaborate with Sr Data Architect to ensure facilitation of
consistent data quality control and optimization in Enterprise Data
Lakes and EDW at enterprise levelPerform other duties as
assignedBasic QualificationsAssociate's Degree and Fourteen Years
Experience OR Bachelor's Degree and Twelve Years Experience OR
Master's Degree and Ten Years Experience OR PhD and Eight Years
ExperiencePreferred Qualifications5+ years working in a Data
Governance leadership role3+ years' experience with Master Data
Management5+ years working in the Life Sciences or
biopharmaceutical industry is preferredCredible across both
business and ITProven track record and experience of successfully
standing up Data Governance operations at an enterprise level
(Preferably in the life sciences domain)Deep understanding of Data
governance processes and their practical application to data
products and processes.Experience with one or more data governance
toolsHands on working experience on MDM application, Informatica
preferredDemonstrates strong problem-solving capabilitiesWilling
and able to overcome challenges and roadblocks to enable the
business to meet it goals.Effective project management
skillsExcellent written communication skills for technical and
non-technical audiencesKnowledge of data mesh approach is a
