The Role: BigHat Biosciences is seeking an exceptional individual
to join our team and be a critical part of driving the People
strategy and processes that underpin an effective organization and
culture aligned with our mission.Reporting to the CEO, the VP of
People provides leadership and guidance for the organization's
People strategy and operations.Key ResponsibilitiesHR
Governance
- Lead BigHat's People strategy with long-range strategic goals,
including workforce planning, employee engagement & culture, DEIB,
L&D, and Organizational Design (e.g., compensation, benefits,
team building, retention, and recognition), all while reinforcing
the company's culture and values
- Function as a strategic business partner and thought leader to
the Executive team and leaders at all levels
- Translate company plans to implement proactive and scalable HR
policies, procedures, systems, and initiatives that motivate
employees to do their best work
- Ensure compliance with all relevant government employee
regulations and policies.
- Establish & maintain highly efficient infrastructure for all
people-related operations that enable a highly effective
organization
- Commit to an approach that focuses equally on strategy as it
does on rolling up your sleeves to execute on People tasks
- Lead HR to support our current and future growing business and
be a mentor to existing Head of Talent to support the growth of the
company
- Oversee the refinement of our People and Compensation
philosophy that is motivating, equitable, and rewards a
high-performing culture
- Build out and oversee BigHat's employee experience and life
cycle to make BigHat an amazing place to work and retain key
talent
- Enhance the strong collaborative culture within the company;
continually promote a culture of authenticity, high performance,
and balance
Performance Management
- Manage bi-annual performance reviews and execute employee bonus
and recognition programs that map employee behaviors, outcomes,
enablers, and blockers
- Continually assess BigHat's competency and compensation levels
to ensure equity across the organization and industry
- Develop and implement an HR roadmap outlining and defining the
HR needs for BigHat over the next three years. Develop resource and
capability requirements for each of the stages. Plan HR process and
technology requirements to anticipate continuing growth and develop
HR technology roadmap
Culture
- Establish key processes for how the BigHat team functions
effectively, manages internal and external conflict, and makes
decisions
- Ensure BigHat's growth positively develops a team of integrated
employees effectively working together towards our common
mission
- Aim to enhance BigHat's culture of diversity, equity,
inclusivity, high performance, and appreciation of
technology
- Provide the appropriate day-to-day tactical and strategic and
communications support to help team members run their respective
areas effectively
About You:
- 10 + years of relevant experience in Human Resources in a
fast-paced, rapidly changing, handling complex issues, within
Pharma/biotech industries preferred
- HR Certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of strategic workforce planning, team-oriented
organization design and change management
- Deep knowledge of HR functions (benefits, compensation,
employee relations and wellbeing, forecasting, HRIS (preferable:
Bob), on/off-boarding, payroll, talent and performance, training
and development, etc.)
- Proven ability to build strong credible relations with internal
and external partners
- Unquestioned professional integrity
- Self-directed, well organized with strong leadership
presence
- Expert verbal and written communication skills in presentation,
critical thinking, active listening, and negotiation skills are
required to deliver the development and execution of tailored and
impactful guidance that positively impacts the organization and/or
mitigates risk
- High energy level, enthusiasm, and a strong "hands-on" work
ethic with a passion for managing the deal with a growing business,
positive, upbeat, professional, "can-do" attitude
- Great ability to deal with ambiguity and to manage time
effectively by prioritizing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced
environment
- Excellent team player and able to work collaboratively with and
through others
- A focus on results and ability to navigate, problem-solve, and
execute solutions
- Ability to think critically, adapt easily and a strong ability
to shift focus based on business priorities
