The California Children's Services (CCS) Medical Therapy Unit (MTU)
is seeking a Full-Time, Extra-Help Physical Therapist to provide a
full range of physical therapy treatments/services to physically
disabled children from birth to 21 years at special education
sites. The children have neurological conditions, such as cerebral
palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy or birth defects. The
incumbents will be working on an interdisciplinary team with
parents and other professionals. This is a unique opportunity to
work in a friendly and cooperative team environment based at
Medical Therapy Units in San Mateo.
The ideal candidate has graduated from an accredited physical
therapy curriculum and has at least one year of experience working
in pediatrics, with neurological and orthopedic conditions. The
ideal candidate is licensed as a Physical Therapist by the Physical
Therapy Board of California; has experience working with children
of all ages; and has the ability to learn to use an electronic
medical record system. Physical therapists without pediatric
experience and/or new graduates are encouraged to apply. Lastly,
the ideal candidate would be interested in expanding his knowledge
regarding therapy intervention and treatment for various
diseases.
Physical Therapist I, CCS (43.86 - $54.84 / Hourly) is the entry
level class in this series. Under immediate supervision, incumbents
perform the full range of general therapy treatments while
developing and learning the skills to apply more advanced and/or
specialized treatments. This class is flexibly staffed with
Physical Therapist II, CCS and incumbents may advance to the higher
level after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency which
meet the qualifications of the higher level class.
Physical Therapist II, CCS ($49.15 - $61.44 / Hourly) is the
experienced journey level class in this series. Incumbents in this
class perform the full range of general therapy treatments with a
greater degree of independence and proficiency, additionally
applying more specialized and advanced therapy treatments. Staff
may also provide technical advice and training to less experienced
staff.
The current vacancy is Extra Help, Full-Time (40 hours/week, with
flexible schedule). The duration of the assignment is approximately
six-months.
NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly
basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under
the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed
permanent status at the end of the assignment. Examples Of

Licensure/Certification:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely
provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
A typical way to qualify is:
Physical Therapist I, CCS: Graduation from an approved school of
physical therapy.
Physical Therapist II, CCS: One year of supervised experience in
pediatric physical therapy.
