Job Title: Stepdown Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in step down nursing License: Valid Registered Nurse license Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Charge experience, Epic charting experience, ACLS Description: Stepdown Registered Nurse who is accountable for the assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care. Includes direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care in an acute patient setting. Delivers holistic and individualized care to all patients in the assigned area. Develops, implements, and coordinates a plan of care that incorporates psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors. Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships between patients, their family/support group, physicians, and other healthcare providers through timely and effective communications. Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. Daily census is approximately 9 patients, with a patient ratio of 3:1. Must have flexibility to float mid-shift if needed. Travelers may float to other locations if census is low on home unit. Ensures care for patients with diagnoses such as respiratory insufficiency, sepsis, stroke, and seizures. Participates in the management of various medical conditions and performs necessary procedures. Utilizes interdisciplinary support teams for comprehensive patient care. Engages in effective communication across teams to enhance patient outcomes.
