The VIP system applies business logic and routes digital currency between transaction acquirers and issuers globally. The Network Processing Product Development team in VisaNet Integrated Payment (VIP) delivers quality services and solutions using best-in-class processes, methodologies, and technology with our worldwide workforce. We are an integral part of delivering projects that support the World Wide Business Releases, quarterly, monthly and weekly projects and maintenance work, as well as multiyear infrastructure projects. As a Staff Software Engineer for VIP Product Development, you will be creating software solutions for the world's most heavily used payment systems. You will be based in Foster City, California and will report to Visa's Network Processing, Product Development Management based in Foster City.Primary Responsibilities: Maintain and enhance the Visa Integrated Payment (VIP) system Provide support and problem resolution for the VIP system Ensure that the standard software development life cycle is followed Develop technical specifications from high level business requirementsWork with architects, systems analysts, project managers, QA and other developers to successfully implement business requirements while applying the latest available tools and technologyDemonstrate initiative to ensure on-schedule delivery of a high quality product that meets all technical requirements within the scheduled timeframeTake initiative to innovate, develop technical solutions when you identify opportunities for further enhancements and refinements to standards, processes and systemsSuggest and cultivate ideas on the improvement, extension of the current systemsParticipate in design and code review sessions as appropriate, to ensure the quality of work delivered by teammates is in accordance with development standardsProvide support for business and technical analysis, design, coding, unit testing, implementation, and documentation of solutions for new development, system enhancements, and production support QualificationsBasic Qualifications:--- t5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline is required or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD--- t7+ years in software development --- t3+ years development on a Transaction Processing Facility (TPF) Operating System preferred --- tExcellent C/C++, Java, and OO design and coding skills --- tFamiliarity with IBM Assembler is desirable--- tProficient with Eclipse/Netbeans IDE--- tFamiliarity with VPARS, TPF toolkit and debugger, and testing TPF in a VM environment is desirable--- tFamiliarity with MS SQL Server, IBM DB2, RDBMS--- tExperience in developing payment systems, or financial services industry is desirable --- tExcellent verbal and written communications skills are required --- tProven experience in all application development activities to successfully implement solutions in a highly complex environment --- tProven ability to use efficient coding techniques to produce well-structured, easily maintainable code --- tAbility to work well with a team in a high performance organization --- tExcellent problem solving, analytical and technical troubleshooting skills--- tExcellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, ability to build and maintain effective relationships across cross functional groups--- tSelf-motivated and adaptable, including the ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies, new skills, and apply to new tasks and initiatives quickly --- tAbility to multi-task and handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment--- tExcellent planning and organizational skills, ability to prioritize workload and maintain focusPreferred Qualifications:--- t6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhDAdditional InformationVisa has adopted a COVID-19 vaccination policy to safeguard the health and well-being of our employees and visitors.
