Job Description:
Cable & Harness Design Engineer Contract (Contract-To-Hire):
This position pays between $50.00 and $70.00 per hour. Direct: This
position pays between $115,000 and $165,000 annual salary.
Location: On Site in Menlo Park, CA A sign-on payment and
restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation
package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or
other benefits, dependent on the position offered by our client.
Responsibilities Our client is seeking an engineer with at least
two years cable harness design experience. In this role, you will
collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to understand
wiring/cabling requirements and then drive the design and drawing
creation of cable/wiring harnesses. The types of wiring may include
low voltage wiring, power conductors at 480VAC or 800VDC, and
everything in between. Responsibilities include: Selecting
components including wires, cables, connectors, terminals, and
sleeving Partnering with mechanical team to define cable routing
and cable lengths Translating designs into 2D cable harness
drawings. This can be done on your own using Solid works or by
partnering with our internal CAD team. Collaborating with the
reliability team, manufacturing engineering team, and external
suppliers to improve designs for reliability, manufacturability,
and testability Implementing engineering changes to release designs
to supply chain and manufacturing Providing support to supply chain
and internal or external manufacturing teams Supporting
troubleshooting of cable harness issues during manufacturing or
testing Qualifications: Degree in engineering, or a similar field,
with at least two years of full-time experience working on wiring
or cabling design. Entry-level candidates and candidates without
industry experience will not be considered for this role Successful
communicator, with "collaborate-first" mindset, who will interface
across a range of teams and personalities Self-starter and fast
learner with enthusiasm to learn complex design concepts and work
with a world-class team Experience with power distribution within
an electromechanical system Experience supporting cable harness
manufacturing Proven ability to operate relatively independently on
design activities A high attention to detail is required for this
role, at times your cable designs will have minimal technical
review prior to being released for procurement/manufacturing
Nice-to-haves: Experience: With low voltage wiring as well as power
cabling (480VAC and 800VDC) Designing wiring for UL certified
products Working with a contract manufacturer With cable harness
testing Maintaining a component library (terminals, connectors,
cables, wires, etc.) Working at a startup or in a rapid development
