San Mateo County Community College District: Program Services Coordinator (Funded by SEAP) " Thrive, The Alliance of Nonprofits for San Mateo County About Events Resources Programs Job Board Membership February 17, 2021 San Mateo County Community College District: Program Services Coordinator (Funded by SEAP) San Mateo County Community College District is seeking a Program Services Coordinator. Under direction, the Program Services Coordinator plans, coordinates, and implements services, such as student recruitment, orientation, job skills assessments and job placement, special events, tours, individual and specialized programs and other support current and potential program participants. Public contact is extensive and can include students, staff, other educational institutions, community and business representatives, governmental agencies and the general public, for the purpose of exchanging program information and services. A high degree of independent judgment and creativity are required to adequately represent the college and program, to serve as a technical resource person for the program, and to design original program components and services. Consequences of errors in judgment can be costly in public relations and in employee time; however, management controls limit the risk of more serious consequences. The Program Services Coordinator can direct the work of student assistants, proctors, and lead other staff as assigned.This is a temporary position funded by the SEAP grant and may be eliminated once the funding has been exhausted.Location: Skyline College (Strategic Partnerships and Workforce Development) Who We AreThe San Mateo County Community District is committed to achieving educational equity for all students. Exchanges information with students, staff, other educational institutions, community and business representatives, vendors, governmental agencies and the general public regarding a variety of college programs, services, eligibility requirements, policies, timelines, required forms and other informationTravels to various off-site locations to confer with high schools, community service organizations, governmental agencies, businesses and other entities, and to recruit students into a college programMakes presentations to small and large groups as a program and college representativeParticipates in planning and implementation meetings with college and outside groups and representativesPlans, conducts and participates in tours, job fairs, and program services in conjunction with management, faculty and other staffCoordinates logistics and establishes timelines, required materials, online support services, facilities, publicity and other program and event needsPlans joint events with other college departments and programs, and with outside business and community representativesServes as a liaison between student program participants and various instructional and student services departmentsInterprets language on student forms and printed informationRefers students to community, business, governmental and other resourcesConducts follow-up to determine student needs and available program servicesDirects and coordinates the work of student assistants, test proctors and other staff as assignedAssists students in determining existing job skills and the skill requirements of various career opportunitiesCoordinates the administration of career assessments and diagnostic surveysMeets with potential employers to identify current and future job placement opportunities, and to develop and modify jobs to provide suitable employment for students and other program participantsCoordinates introductions and follow-up for student job placementsRefers students to career and other counselors, instructional programs and to other college offices as appropriateResearches and compiles statistical, narrative, financial, demographic and other data for regular and special reports to track program participation, recruitment effectiveness, student follow-up, retention and transfer rates, program evaluation criteria, career resources and job availability, employer profiles, and other informationEnters, modifies and retrieves online dataUses a variety of software to compose, format and prepare correspondence, memoranda, publicity materials, surveys, brochures, flyers, bulletins, reports, presentations, and other materialsSets up and maintains confidential and other filesPlans and coordinates lay-out, graphics, photography and other artwork, editing, printing, multimedia enhancements, web page information, distribution and other services in conjunction with other staff, students and/or vendors as appropriate Performs other related duties as assigned Minimum QualificationsA combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in business administration, sociology, human resources or a closely related fieldSuccessful experience of increasing responsibility in education, social services, human resources or a related areaDemonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staffExperience with program planning, implementation and evaluationExperience with training and leading the work of othersExperience with researching, formatting, assessing and preparing data for reports and other materialsExperience with the use of a variety of computer software to track and monitor dataDemonstrated skills in oral and written communication, including public speakingDemonstrated skill in multitasking, prioritizing workloads, and working independentlyDemonstrated skill in working as part of a customer service teamKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of specific program and related college services available to students and other potential participantsKnowledge of applicable and available community, business, governmental and educational resourcesSkill in oral communication, including public speakingSkill in written communicationSkill in short- and long-range program and event planning, program and event implementation, coordination and evaluationSkill in interviewing, assessment and evaluationSkill in sensitive, respectful and effective communication with people of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgroundsSkill in establishing and maintaining effective and efficient working relationshipsSkill in research, compiling and formatting a variety of data for reportsSkill in use of the Microsoft Office Suite and web-based content management systemsAbility to work effectively as part of a customer-service team Physical RequirementsThis classification requires sitting for various lengths of time; the ability to type, use phone, occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects of light to moderate weight; work at a computer, including viewing a monitor for various lengths of time, repetitive use of keyboard, mouse or other control device, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate keyboard; and ability to operate a motor vehicle and drive to off campus locations in order to perform the essential The District pays all or a portion of monthly medical plan premiums (depending on the coverage) and pays all of the monthly dental and vision plan premiums for employees and eligible dependents. Additional paid benefits include life insurance, salary continuance insurance, and an Employee Assistance Program. Classified employees participate in the Public Employees' Retirement System, a defined-benefit retirement plan through the State of California.
