Final Closing Date will be April 19, 2021.San Mateo County Health is seeking well-qualified individuals for positions of Psychiatric Social Worker/Marriage & Family Therapist I/II-Spanish Speaking Required. We anticipate using the list created from this recruitment to fill positions in Youth Services, Adult Services and Older Adult Services, and Correctional Health Services. Candidates may be considered for any vacancy throughout the County.Currently there is one full time vacancy with Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, North County Youth Outpatient Clinic in Daly City.Behavioral Health and Recovery Services(BHRS),provides a broad spectrum of Trauma Informed mental health and substance use services for children, youth, families, adults and older adults in the County of San Mateo County in the prevention, early intervention and treatment of mental illness, serious mental illness (SMI), and/or substance use disorders. We provide services through specialty teams, outpatient clinics in Daly City, San Mateo, Half Moon Bay, Redwood City and East Palo Alto, in school-based locations, and through a network of community agencies and independent providers who offer outpatient services, residential treatment, rehabilitation and other services for adults and children. We utilize Trauma Informed Care to support treatment of the whole person to achieve wellness and recovery, and to promote the health and well-being of the people, families and communities we serve.Additionally for Residential Youth Treatment at Canyon Oaks Youth Center, Community Care Licensing requires providers working in this facility to maintain 40 hours of annual training related to the field, most of which are provided by the facility. Clinicians will also need to be trained in Professional Assault Crisis Training model (Pro-Act) upon hire.Additionally working with the Juvenile Justice population at Youth Services Center will require participation in on-call rotation and responding to after-hours calls.Correctional Health Services(CHS),therapists provide clinical mental health services utilizing Trauma Informed Care to inmates with mental illness, serious mental illness or substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders of mental illness/serious mental illness and chemical dependency. They also provide case management services and discharge planning by interviewing inmate patients to assess mental health needs and formulating treatment plans. They function as a team member in a multi-disciplinary work setting where they collaborate with Sheriff's Office staff to manage inmate patients' daily activities. Some positions require weekend and evening hours.The ideal candidates will possess: A current license as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist; Solid clinical treatment, assessment, diagnostic and evaluation skills; Knowledge of principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, crisis management and various treatment modalities; Experience providing treatment for adults and youth with serious mental illness; Experience delivering services to adult and/or youthconsumers who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders; Experience delivering services in specialty areas for adults and older adultsand/or infants, children, youth, adolescents and/or transitional age youth; Excellent documentation skills: progress notes, assessments, client care plans, etc.; Demonstrated expertise, skill and interest in working with a broad range of clients of diverse cultures and backgrounds, and an ability to provide culturally appropriate and proficient services; Skill in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with families, co-workers, other professionals, collaborative partners and the public; Extensive knowledge of available community resources within the County of San Mateoand its neighboring counties; Experience usingelectronic health/medical record systems (e.g. AVATAR,SOARIAN); Fluency in both English andSpanish is required. Experience providing clinical services using bilingual skills. Ability to participate in on-call rotation and responding to after-hours calls (Youth Services Center).Additionally, for Residential Youth Treatment: Knowledge of the principles of Trauma Informed Care; Experience working in a multi-disciplinary setting.Additionally, for Correctional Health Services: Experience working in a correctional facility; Experience providing case management services for an inmate population; Demonstrated ability inproviding clinical mental health services to an adult population with serious mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders of mental illness, seriousmental illness and substance use disorders.SALARYPsychiatric Social Worker I/Marriage & Family Therapist I:$38.33 - $47.92 Hourly$79,726.40 - $99,673.60 AnnuallyPsychiatric Social Worker II/Marriage & Family Therapist II:$43.11 - $53.89 Hourly$89,668.80 - $112,091.20 AnnuallyNOTE: The eligible list generated from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future extra-help, term, unclassified, and regular classified vacancies.Examples Of DutiesDuties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform initial diagnostic evaluation noting behavioral symptoms which may indicate organic and/or mental disorders in children and in interpersonal/ family dysfunctions related to child and adult patients/clients. Determine and develop appropriate treatment plans for all clients in the caseload. Conduct individual, group and family counseling/therapy sessions for clients toward the goal of achieving more adequate, satisfying and productive adjustments in the community and provide case management services as appropriate. Participate in developing individual and group treatment plans utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic, psychosocial and psycho educational modalities. Perform suicide/risk assessments Conduct home visits and/or field-based services. Crisis Intervention Make client referrals and plan discharge procedures. Assess progress of clients on a selected basis and propose modifications to rehabilitation plans in order to meet goals agreed upon by the clients/patients. Prepare and maintain psychosocial case histories for use in diagnostic evaluations and of patient progress. Supervise graduate interns. Provide outreach counseling and refer clients to appropriate mental health program service resources. Collect and evaluate medical or psychosocial data such as case histories, behavior patterns and family relationships of patients/clients. Analyze factors which exert an adverse effect upon health problems, treatment, or recovery, or which may contribute to or are responsible for mental illness or affect the potential for rehabilitation. Conduct treatment groups in schools and other community settings with emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children toward the goal of achieving higher functioning in interpersonal relationships and learning. Work as a psychiatric team member with other treatment disciplines. Utilize Trauma Informed Care and other Evidence-based practices Provide consultation and education services. Participate in on-call rotation and responding to after-hours calls (Youth Services Center). Perform related duties as assigned.QualificationsLicensure/Certification: Psychiatric Social Worker I:Registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker. An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within three years from the date of employment as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker issued by the State of California. Psychiatric Social Worker II:Current California license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Marriage & Family Therapist I: Registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within three years from the date of employment as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California. Marriage & Family Therapist II: CurrentCalifornia license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.Security Clearance:Positions in Correctional Health require that the applicant obtain and maintain a security clearance as a condition of employment.Education and Experience:Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is a Master's degree in Social Work, Social Welfare or a closely related field.Knowledge of: Current philosophy, principles, Trauma Informed Care and other Evidence Based Practices for services to clients with serious mental illness. Individual, group and family psychodynamics as they relate to adults or youth. Psychological diagnostic methods and terminology. Personality development from infancy through adulthood. Human and health services systems in the County including private agencies and other community resources.Skill/Ability to: Provide treatment to adults, children or adolescents with various mental health issues ranging from serious mental illness to individuals with histories of trauma. Set realistic treatment goals and facilitate their attainment. Evaluate the degree of mental health issues of clients. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Provide consultation and technical assistance to agencies, schools and other organizations. Work collectively within a multi-disciplinary team.Psychiatric Social Worker I/II SpecialRequirements:Individuals in this classification assigned to an on-site school program are required to meet any specialized requirements (i.e., Pupil Personnel Services credential) as stipulated by federal and state laws and regulations.
