JOB TITLE: Volunteer SpecialistDEPARTMENT: Crisis Intervention Services and Suicide Prevention CenterREPORTS TO: Program CoordinatorPOSITION STATUS: Non-Exempt-Full-time - 40 hours per week (Flexible; to be discussed with Program Coordinator)PM21POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVESStarVista Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention Center (CISPC) is the only 24-hour suicide and crisis hotline in San Mateo County. This telephone-accessed service is staffed 24-hours a day; 365 days a year through a combination of paid staff and trained volunteers. The Center is both a critical first point of contact for people in need of referrals to social services and a last resort for people on the brink of suicide to reach out for help. Crisis line staff and volunteers serve over 13,000 callers annually. The StarVista Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention Hotline is proudly accredited by the American Association of Suicidology.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Coordinate administrative components of the Crisis Center's adult volunteer programProvide regular check-ins to Crisis Center Volunteer cohorts, support ongoing development, and address any concerns regarding volunteers or volunteer conductRepresent the Crisis Center to community groups and at community events with goal of increased volunteerism and community awareness of services providedManage the Crisis Center volunteer schedule to ensure adequate coverageWork a minimum of 2 four-hour hotline shifts per week and assist with emergency coverage as neededProvide on-call phone consultation for High Risk, emergencies, rescue calls and debriefing during shifts, or as assigned by Hotline Coordinator, which will include weekends and holidaysFacilitate quarterly volunteer social events in collaboration with program coordinatorCoordinate comprehensive volunteer onboarding trainings every nine months in collaboration with the Training Specialist and Hotline Program Coordinator; organize logistics, facilitate trainings etc.Assist in managing of the Crisis Center referral database and binders. Keep caller data and resource information organized and currentParticipate in supporting, reviewing, designing, and implementing Crisis Center procedures set by the American Association of SuicidologyAdditional duties as needed and assigned by Hotline Program Coordinator.

Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:BA Degree preferred Bilingual (Spanish preferred, but not required)Must have a valid CA Driver's License, their own car with valid auto insuranceMust become 1st Aid and CPR certified (if not already so) and be able to pass a live scan background clearance.Volunteer Coordination experience preferredExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with diverse communities in San Mateo CountyWork independently as well as with a teamDetail-oriented; ability to multi-task, problem-solving and/ or seek solutions, able to provide follow-throughSkilled in use of technology including multiple line telephones, computer (PC), laptop, software including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, and/or Microsoft TEAMS, email desirableMust live within San Mateo County or San Francisco Bay AreaAble to adhere to assigned schedules, timelines, deadlines, willingness to work flexible hours (some evenings and weekends required with advanced notice)Must be able to successful complete of all crisis center training modules.Creative, outgoing and takes initiativeStrong written and verbal communication skillAble to organize and report data and outcomesUnderstanding and dedication to mental wellnessAbility to work as a team leader and accomplish tasks supporting the agency's missionAbility to complete administrative duties, as assigned by Program Coordinator.SUCCESS FACTORS:Enjoys working in the community, is passionate and creativeEnjoys working with volunteers and community partners.Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet specific goals and deadlines.Flexibility in meeting changing priorities as the work requires.Able to function as part of a team and possess strong interpersonal skills.Support for agency direction, purpose, and mission.PI177472362
