Description: Our Early Childhood and Family Services programs
endeavor to foster healthy emotional, cognitive, and social
development for children birth through age five and their families
throughout San Mateo County. The Early Childhood Dyadic Therapist
will provide home-based services to a culturally diverse client
population of pregnant women and families with young children
facing multiple risk factors, including family violence, substance
abuse, immigration challenges, language barriers, and poverty,
among others. Note: All services are currently provided via
telehealth platforms.The Dyadic Therapist will primarily utilize a
relationship-based modality, one that is Child-Parent Psychotherapy
and Infant Mental Health informed, and focus on safety, attachment,
enhancing child/caregiver relationships and interactions, while
healing trauma and supporting the child's developmental trajectory.
The Dyadic Therapist will be part of a collaborative team of early
childhood providers, including Family & Community Support
Specialists and Mental Health Consultants. Depending on
programmatic needs, this position may serve clients county-wide and
drive to multiple locations within San Mateo County.A successful
candidate for this position will have a proven history of working
with young children and families, strong capacity for
self-reflection, and ability to communicate a sense of passion and
commitment to supporting the social-emotional development of young
children and deepening the understanding of their caregivers. A
commitment to working on a collaborative team based on mutual
respect is essential in providing the needed level of support for
young children and their families. In addition, a strong candidate
will show commitment to support underserved families in a
culturally sensitive and respectful manner. While experience in
providing Infant Mental Health, Child-Parent Psychotherapy or
another dyadic modality is preferred, we are willing to train the
right candidate. You will be joining a dedicated team of
collaborative and compassionate early childhood professionals.
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Provide weekly therapy home visits to
families. Currently provided via telehealthFacilitate caregiver
support groups in the community covering topics such as caregiver
wellness, positive discipline, parenting style, children's
temperament, and domestic violence. Currently held via virtual
platformFacilitate regular Parent-Child Activity groups series
covering child development and resources in the community.
Currently held via virtual platformAssess and diagnose infants,
children, and primary caregivers; develop and implement treatment
plans; maintain timely progress notes for each case. Collaborate
with team members in order to understand and work to meet the needs
of each family.Coordinate treatment with other community providers
who are involved with each family.Comply with billing and
documentation requirements.Participate in program evaluation
efforts.Maintain client files and program documentation.Attend
individual supervision, group supervision meetings and program
staff meetings.Attend trainings as required. Provide informational
training or presentations to community groups, as assigned.Complies
with all standards of performance.Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Bilingual Spanish
speaking Required. Written and oral communication skills in English
and Spanish.Excellent clinical assessment and therapeutic
skills.Knowledge of infant/child development and infant mental
health. Training in early childhood mental health
preferred.Exposure to thinking clinically about systems and
organizations.Willingness to engage in self-reflection and
participate fully in reflective supervision.Knowledge of the
dynamics and treatment of family violence.Excellent organizational
and time-management skills.Sensitivity working with culturally and
ethnically diverse populations and to exploring the impact of
systemic racism on family systemsAbility to work both independently
and within a larger collaborative system of agencies, individuals,
and disciplines. Ability to work as a team member and to accomplish
tasks supporting the program's mission.WORKING CONDITIONS:Work in
both an office setting and from home, as well as in the field. Home
visits required. Driving throughout San Mateo County required.
Currently all services are provided via telehealthMINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum level of education is a Master's degree in
counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy,
or a related field (MSW or MS/MA minimum). At minimum, must be
registered with appropriate licensing board. License as an MFT,
LCSW or Psychologist preferred. The employee must have a valid CA
driver's license, and their own car with valid auto insurance.
